A few days back, the Chinese hacking team, PangGu released a jailbreaking tool for the Apple TV 4. Anyone who owns the jail breaking tool will be able to jailbreak their Apple TV, but only if the TV runs on tvOS 9.0 and or tvOS 9.0.1. There are a few other ways to jailbreak the Apple TV.
One can easily do it by using a developer account where they have to pay. On the other hand, even a free account will help. The present jailbreak tool has no actual graphic user interface yet, thus one will need the tutorial to jailbreak their device. The very first thing the user needs to do is log in to Xcode using an Apple ID which also has privileges for side loading. One will also need a Mac Book and USB cable to connec6t the TV tothe Mac for jail breaking.
Follow the following steps.
· Connect the TV to the Mac and also disable the auto update facility on the Apple TV by going to the TV settings options.
· Two softwares which need to be downloaded are the PangGu jailbreaking tool as well as the iOS App Signer tool.
· Open Xcode and create a new project in the tvOS section, making it a single View type Application. Fill out the basic details and go to next step without changing anything other than Product Name (which should be “Jailbreak”), Organization Identifier (which should be com.jailbreak.appletv)
· Gain access to the Xcode account one has using the free Apple ID. One has to link it to the Xcode and use it to open Xcode and then Preference followed by Accounts. Click on Fix if any problems need to be taken care of.
· Start up the App Signer and choose the atvipa.app file present in the PangGu download after browsing from the App Signer. Also select the new Provisioning Profile and the Certificate created in Xcode. Click start on the App Signer and click Save to save the atvipa.app file on the desktop.
· In Xcode, select the Apple TV as extended device. Click on the “+” sign under installed apps and select atvipa.app present on the desktop. This will enable the Apple TV jailbreak tool for the TV. When it appears on the screen, one simply needs to launch it to finally start up and finish the complete jailbreaking.
