The latest report that was published by IDC in regards to the PC market showed that the industry is being outpaced by Apple. As per the data that was shown, the 2016’s first quarter showed an increase in the overall market share even though the year over year overall sales showed a fall.
The total worldwide PC shipment for 2016’s first quarter showed a number of 60.6 million. In comparison to last year’s year over year percentages, there was an 11.5% decline. As per the predictions made by analysts, the drop was considered to be slightly worse since the percentage that was predicted showed 11.3%. Only in US, from 13.6 million, the shipment of units fell to 5.8%. It also the other reasons that contributed towards the reduction of shipments are due to the currencies, commodities and volatility in stocks.
Just in United States, the company specifically says the year over year rise in shipments by 5.6% which a total of 1.8 million units even though the year over year shipments globally fell to 2.6%. Even though there was a fall in global shipments, Apple still saw a gain pertaining to the market shares. While the share of the company in United States was 13%, worldwide the share was 7.4%.
With the company holding a PC market share of 7.4%, Apple presently stands on the 4th spot in the industry as is slowing outpacing the market even though it saw a worldwide annual decline in its shipments.
It is also expected that the company has plans in introducing a refreshed line‐up of the Mac sometime soon; The Company is yet to release the details in specific. There were references that were made during the server build of the OS X where it was mentioned about the 2″ Mac Book of 2016. Apple is yet to make an official announcement about the lineup of Mac.
