Gartner a research firm recently released the lasted numbers which reveal that the industry of smartphones is still a ground where Android and iOS are the only lead horses that run the race. When you combine both the operating systems of the mobile, it takes up 98.4% of the market share worldwide for the 4th quarter of the year 2015; the 4th quarter of 2014 had a number of 96.4%.

The Android OS is said to be the smartphone that is used most with a market share of 80.7%, while the market share for iOS was recorded at 17.7%. The 4th quarter has been a very successful quarter for both the giants die to the shopping season of the holidays.

The Blackberry and Windows Phone both had a market share of 0.2% and 1.1% respectively. The results that were seen were very not surprising due to the fact that the Windows Phone efforts is being scaled back by Microsoft while last year, the 1st Blackberry Android phone was launched.

Even Mozilla and Samsung have the Linux mobile OS also in Firefox and Tizen OS, however there is a comparative slim platform for adopting each of them.
