Irish Residents Ask Questions Of Apple’s Plans

One of the largest updates in Apple related news is the filed objections of local residents of Ireland against Apple’s plan to build one of its biggest data centers. There have been talks of Ireland being host to Apple for building one of the largest data centers in the world, but due to certain issues, the plan has come to a standstill. In recent times, the local residents of the area where the data center was supposed to be built filed a number of objections regarding the building plans. Thus, the main planning body or the Bord Pleanala, decided to push back the final decision of the data center from the month of February to the month of May. This was done in order to analyze the objections placed by the local residents and cater to them is necessary.

Irish Residents Ask Questions Of Apple’s Plans

Here are some of the issues put forward by the planning board to the Apple officials:

∙ Location

Initially, Apple had planned to set up this massive data center in a forest near Athenry. This has turned in to one of the concerns from the Bord Pleanala. They now want to know the exact reason why Apple is looking to build their center in the forest near the Athenry small town and not in any other location across Ireland.

∙ Energy Source

Apple stated that they were planning to power the data center with only renewable energy. Though a very good proposal, Apple forgot to mention what kind of renewable energy they will use, or any details regarding the matter.

∙ Impact on the Environment

Though Apple has already provided with reports of the types of environmental impacts the data center is about to cause; they have not provided any details about the powering stations, nor any of the extended parts of the main center. All these questions have been asked of Apple and the expected date of reply, as provided by the Bord Pleanala, is March the 7th
