A recent post reported by the users that the Reddit clients who had been removed are now turning back on the App store due to the changes that the developers are planning to implement about the removal of the NSFW toggle. The official iOS Reddit app was released last week, Apple had recently taken out a few third party clients of Reddit from its App store.
Though these changes did not appear to be related to the official launch of the Reddit client however this was a surprise. As per what was said by the company, these clients had violated the App Review Guidelines clause 18.2, this was in relation to the NSFW content. On the Reddit thread, it was pointed out quickly by the users that a lot of third party clients which were used for the browsing service had been removed in the evening from the App Store citing that the user content that was generated was frequently pornographic in nature.
A lot of people speculated that this move of the removal of certain apps had been done on the request made to Apple by the company, however as per the developer who is the brains behind Narwhal a Reddit client stated that this request was not made by Reddit but the move was done by Apple itself.
Another developer who’s behind the Reddit client called Eggplant also had found out that the app had been pulled out. When he spoke to the company, Apple had informed him that within the app that he had developed, the NSFW toggle and content had to be removed. In the Eggplant, the display of NSFW content by default is disabled. Reddit released a statement that stated that the company had asked them to update their apps (Reddit Official and AB) and the Safe for Work Browsing toggle had to be removed. The company was surprised when they got this notice.
