In the WWDC keynote that took place earlier, the necessary support was provided by Apple for the much requested lyrics feature on the iOS 10 Music app. With the release of the beta version, this feature was not live immediately however gradually, it was rolled out for the various artists and songs uploaded on the app.

Request to Make Lyrics Annotation in Apple Music should be Like Genius Website and App

The support for lyrics was welcomed by many with open arms, though it is a very basic implementation, however, in order for the lyrics to be accessed, from the now playing screen, the user would need to swipe the bottom of the screen. In plain text, the lyrics would be presented however there is no option to share them easily or annotate them. In order to improve the experience of the lyrics support, there are a lot of things that Apple could have done.

For example, if you look at Genius’s website and app, it offers an annotation service of lyrics which is community run. This service gives users the benefit of gaining access to any lyrics as well as diving deep to understand the meaning. Since the past one year, this is an app that is loved by a lot of people and even the website is visited by many. It is really interesting to know the meaning behind a particular song or to understand the words that are being sung.

There can be various reasons why a person would want to know the lyrics of the song, for some it could be to sing it, while for a few it could be to understand what the singer is trying to say, and for a few others it could be do get a line by line breakdown of not just the lyrics, however also the meaning behind it. Though the support has been provided by Apple on this front, however if they can get this support to the similar level of how Genius offers, it will be really good.
