Apple’s Price Fixing Settlement in Regards to e‐books Now Provides Extra Amazon Credits for Eligible Customers

The credit of purchasing e‐books form Amazon will be added automatically to your account. Thanks to Apple, people can now get a little extra to spend this week on Amazon. As a part of Apple’s settlement of Price fixing, refunds are not being issued by Amazon. There are a few e‐ books which have been selected for this, and if a person purchases the eBook which qualified for it from Amazon, their account will automatically be credited. A person can also go ahead and check how much credit they have available in their Amazon account.

The customers who are eligible for this would not have to do anything for them to get the credits that are due to them. If a person is eligible, then the credit has already been calculated and added into their account with Amazon. This information was provided in the webpage of Amazon in the section which talks about the various aspects of Settlement.

The user will get a gift card of the credits that they have in their account which can be used for the future purchased that the customer would do though Amazon. It is not just for e-books, however the credits can be used to make any kind of purchase. The only this is that on certain subscriptions and gift cards of Amazon, these credits would not be applicable. An E‐Mail will also be sent out to the customers who are eligible providing all the necessary information and explanation.

Those who have made any kind of e‐book purchases from publications like Macmillan, Penguin, Simon and Schuster, HarperCollins and Hachette from Amazon between 1st April, 2012 and 21st May 2012 qualify for these credits. One of the portions of the settlement was that around $400 million was paid by Apple to the buyers of e‐books. For any regular book the credits would be $1.57 per e‐book, while for the New York Times bestsellers, they would get around $6.93.
