iPhone 5s Hacked By LAPD Successful While FBI Could Not Access iPhone 5s Of San Bernardino Case

As per a report given by the LA Times, the detectives at the LAPD have managed to hack into a white iPhone 5s that was locked even though the phone had a Secure Enclave. A method was obtained by the Los Angeles Police Investigators to gain access into the iPhone that was locked which belonged to the wife of Michael Jace, the actor of The Shield. This information was told out by the Times after they had reviewed the court papers.

In order to bypass the security feature that was there on the iPhone 5s which belonged to April Jace and alternative way was found by the detectives of the LAPD. Presently the actor is being accused of killing his wife April in 2014 at their home in South LA as per the search warrant that was filed in the Superior Court of the Los Angeles County.

It is also believed that this happened during the same time when the FBI was asking Apple to help them unlock the iPhone 5c which is a less secure phone in the case of the shootings that happened in San Bernardino.

As per what was revealed in the search warrant, it stated that a forensic phone expert was found by the LAPD who could help them in unlocking the phone and the attempt that was done was a successful one. It is believed that the warrant had been dated 18th March, while the court proceedings against Apple were not withdrawn by the FBI until the 28th of March.

The warrant also states that in April, the phone would be examined by a senior investigator who is with the office of the district attorney and is an expert in private cell phones. The method that was used to unlock the information was not revealed and neither information about the phone’s iOS version that was installed.
