India Seems to be Holding Its Grip on the Indian Market, the YOY Shipments of iPhone Drops Down in Q2 by 35%

In the second quarter of 2016 it was seen that in comparison to the 1.2 million that was sold a year back for the same quarter, the total number of iPhones that were sold was just around 800,000. With these numbers you can clearly say that even the company launched the iPhone SE which was said to be the cheapest in the Indian Market, it was still not the biggest winner.

During 2016’s 2nd quarter it was seen that the annual growth which was around 19% , the total number of units that hit the Indian Market was 31 million and it was around 97% of them were devices which were Android based. Earlier in the news we got to know that the application that Apple filed pertaining to selling refurbished iPhones in the Indian market had been rejected by Indian officials. However, there is also word about the fact that the company is still making an attempt on this front. The CEO of Apple Tim Cook, recently also made a trip to India earlier in the year where he had a media tour and also met Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.

Cook noted that pertaining to India, they plan to take a step back and want to look holistically where India was concerned. What he meant was that pertaining to the developer community in India, they plan to get them onboard for iOS. In order to do that, the company also went ahead and came up with an accelerator and there is a future that is seen when it came to India.
