SwiftKey the Microsoft-owned the well-known popular app for iOS has been suspended after finding that the app was leaking the important information of the users to the strangers. The app was created by three students from university of the Cambridge. The app was acquired by Microsoft for $250 million earlier this year. The app is uses artificial intelligence to find the predictive text suggestions when the users types using the keyboard. The app was earlier launched only for the Android users and later it was also available for the iOS platform after the huge success among people.
The app is well capable to identify the words being repeatedly used by the users. It suggests similarly the same to the user wherever required. The unique words being used by the users is saved in the database. The app additionally provides the option for online Sync. It lets the users have their database of their unique words across multiple devices wherever the device is being used. A user reported that she was able to spot strange email suggestions in some language which was never used by her. These kinds of strange suggestions has raised a concern over the app as the user types phone numbers, names, credit card numbers and email addresses too.
The company has acknowledged the issue in their blog and says that the users at majority will not be affected by the issue in the SwiftKey. The app has not created any ruckus for the users. SwiftKey has also closed the sync services for the app. They are working on the update for curing the issue completely. Microsoft is working towards the artificial intelligence prediction for removing the email address from the app. The updates with the patch for the detected issue will soon be launched for the users.
