In order to lead The Apple Car Team of Project Titan, there has been news that Bob Mansfield has been recruited by Apple as per one of the recent Wall Street Journal report. Earlier he used to head the hardware team of Apple before he was moved to the role of special projects and was also part of the Apple Watch project, just before he could move and retire and take on the role of an advisor. The fact that Mansfield was pulled out back from his retirement clearly indicates the effort the company is putting in to ensure that the electric vehicle hits the market.

In the Wall Street Journal report, it was mentioned that a senior executive who is highly regarded has been tapped by Apple Inc. It also further went on to say that the person was the one who has helped bring a lot of signature products of the company into the market and will now be overlooking the project of the electric car.

A few years ago, Mansfield had taken a back seat from the daily roles of the company. He also lead the various product development by overlooking the hardware engineering part of the iPad table, iMac desktop computer, MacBook Air laptop computer etc. Now Apple has brought him onboard to run the Project titan which is an initiative that the company is taking to come up with an electric autonomous vehicle. This was the information that was stated by people.

The official confirmation about the role or return of Mansfield is yet to be provided by the company, however the reports of WSJ does confirm that now under Mansfield hand, there are a few engineers that have been assigned who will report to him directly. Even the senior managers who are part of the new project are under his wing.
