A drive problem was being faced by a Reader named Haris where in it was written that his Samsung SSD suddenly stopped working earlier on the day, even with using the Disk Utility, he could not repair nor boot it. The original hard drive of his 2012 MacBook Pro had been kept by him, but when he tried to swap it into place, he neither good erase it nor even boot it. He noticed an increase in the estimated time of the bar that just kept on loading, and even after waiting for several hours where just half had been loaded, the time still kept on increasing.

Apart from the hard drive problems, the recent SSD failure was also something that he had been facing. He went on to say that in cases like this mostly even if the drive is bad, it does not get into this state. He suspected that between the laptop and the drive, the linkage was at fault. At that time, it was suggested to Harris that he should try swapping the cable.

Haris then wrote back that he had gone ahead and bought a new cable for the hard drive which helped in resolving the problem. Well by this, it seems to be that after some time, the cable of the hard drive starts failing and start having issues. This is something that is very prominent with the 2011‐2012 make of the MacBook Pros.

In 2013, Chris Barylick had written an article for the Macworld wherein he stated that one of the most commonly known problems was cable failure, this was noticed during the time he was working at the tech repair shop that was run by a university. He ran into his own set of problems when the Mac mini that he had which was not very old had ran into its own set of problems. The drive bus had failed which he went ahead and replaced it.
