In China, there seems to be another headache that is being faced by Apple which could also be termed as the year’s craziest lawsuit. It seems to be that for the company, this year has been one which had led to various legal battles. A lawsuit was filed by the Media watchdog of China, SAPPRFT against Apple with the claims about violation the company has made in regards to a patriotic film that was broadcasted from 1994.
It was claimed by the Government agency of China, that there has been huge losses economically due to the fact, that Youku Tudou which is the equivalent of YouTube in China, had recently broadcasts for the Apple TV user, the film named Xuebo Dixiao. Further on, it was also stated that there were damages worth 50,000 Yuan or $7510 that the agency had requested. This was the statement that had been submitted to the Beijing’s Haitian district court.
By the looks of it, this is not the first time the Apple has had problems with the SAPPRFT. Thanks to the agency, earlier in the year, the company had to shut down the iTunes Movies and iBookstore.
The movie that has become a question which resulted in the lawsuit Xuebo Dixiao is said to be a film of pro China which revolved along a Chinese doctor who is patriotic and his fight against the occupying forces of Japan. The translation of the title means Bloody Fight with Our Brave Enemies. You can also get to see the movie online as it is a free streaming.
What is really astonishing is the fact that Apple has been held responsible for a Youku Tudou video that was posted. Instead of going directly after the streaming services, the agency is running after the company. It seems to be that at this point Apple is bearing the brunt of various lawsuits in China just for fun.
