Google has recently announced their plans of building their own personal assistant in competition of Amazon Echo. The new product of the Google will be called Google Home which is a Wi‐Fi enabled personal assistant for the home. It is a super cool device which shall be able to help people with most of the queries occurring in their daily life related to music, entertainment, everyday tasks, reminder, surfing information, etc.
According to the news site of technology genre The Information, Google Home will be sharing some of the features with some of the most popular streaming device like Google Chromecast. The hardware configuration of the device will be same that is 4GB of RAM followed by dual‐band 802.11ac Wi‐Fi chip. There is a huge similarity between the Chromecast as well as the Google Home the same team has worked upon both the projects for the company. The Google Home product of the company is also called or being referred to as the dressed up version of the earlier product. The hardware is all same apart from the few additions of the microphone, speaker and a very beautiful LED light with a fabric metal bottom. Google home is expected to be running on OS which will be based on Linux similar to what has been used for the Chromecast.
Google is thinking about using Android version of the OS in their future version of the products for the Google home. Chromecast is the most successful yet very cheap hardware. It is available for $35 in the market and is able to sell 3 million units consistently from last 3 years. Google has a brighter side towards also selling the Google Home easily in the market as they will be able to easily price it lower than $179 at which Amazon’s echo is being sold. Apple has also planned to develop something similar to compete with Amazon Echo.
