For those who have been frustrated pertaining to the limited number of Apple Pay supporting retailers, well there seems to be a ray of home that is coming across the Atlantic. As the reports that was released by the Guardian, there new figures of contactless payments that were seen showed that just in the UK was around a billion. This was accounting for one card transition out of six. Off late we all know that Apple has been expanding their Apple Pay services in a rapid pace.
In comparison to the US, it was believed that the UK got a bigger start when it came to the technology of contactless payments. In 2008, the first contactless cards were issued. The contactless terminals at least in the big cities were almost ubiquitous and majority of the retailers were offering the service. As per the figures it could be said that they would come in, if it was built. The Financial times let out a separate report that had quoted recently that the UK Card Association’s head of Policy, Richard Koch commented on the rapid acceleration in the country of contactless payments. He went on to say that it took around 8 years for the contactless spending on a monthly basis to touch a billion pounds and in just a matter of four months; a growth of the same amount was seen.
It seems to be that the contactless payment popularity will seem to be in place on the terminals are up and the pace for its adoption should spur US retailers so that it can go up. It seems to be that at least the banks are playing their part and almost every year, the list seems to have new additions of bank names that are now being a part of the names that support the Apple Pay contactless payment features to their users.
