Through Daydream, VR for Android is being bought by Google. This is a platforms that give manufacturers and developers various tools and resources that can help them to come up with great software and hardware solutions. Though this a lead that can take the company ahead of Apple however there are chances that this lead may not be for long. So what exactly is Day Dream?
Daydream is the latest plan that Google has come up to get VR on Android. This will help developers by providing the necessary tools that can help them come up with apps and games and is closely tied to the present VR tools such as Unreal and Unity. For the software, the hardware is the flipside and Google’s Daydream allows the manufacturers to know the specs of future phones when it comes to the hardware front as they would need to be compliant with Google’s Daydream. Due to the fact that Google does not have control on the hardware ecosystem of Androids, the VP Platform is used so that the devices can be validated. GPU’s is the main focus In order for the developers to gain control directly over the GPU that is present in a person’s device, The Vulkan API is what needed and is also supported by Google for Android N. This is the starting pint as to where things start overlapping with VR, Android and iOS. The similar tool is what Apple has with Metal, as it provides a low overhead access that is similar to the GPU of the devices. For a proper gaming experience, it is important that as much energy can be pulled out by the developers as the VR does seem to be heavy on the processes.
The VR Kit It seems to be a very good idea about the fact that Apple is planning to get into the VR Space when it comes to mobiles. The new headsets that they are working on are an indication about it. The same can be found in the Daydream version which is known as VRKit. Just like what Daydream does for the softwares that are Android based, the same is what VRKit will do for the iOS base When a bunch of tools i given to the developers, Google and Apple are actually encouraging a market that is new for mobiles. One of the biggest benefits that we can see right now is the fact that Apple is that the hardware is controlled and the arrival of the VR on iOS can be decided accordingly. If during the WWDC, the announcement is made, then we can at least have an idea as to what we can expect can turn up on the iPhone 7 specifications.
As of now, by the looks of it, Google does seem to be well ahead of Apple if we talk about mobile solutions through VR, however very soon, this may also change due to the fact that both the companies are in their own way secretly working towards trying to push past the other so that they can get users to be engaged on a mobile front which is new.
