As it is known, videos on the internet are available in many different qualities. Moreover, each quality of video has separate rates of data usage. The high quality videos take up more data whereas the low quality videos take up less. Thus, users with slower internet services take a lot of time to buffer high quality video. On the other hand, users with faster data services will always look to watch high quality videos, as they have the capability to stream them faster. With its new upgrade, Netflix has introduced the option to viewers to choose the quality of video depending on their data usage capacity.
Now, users can choose how much data they are willing to use to see a certain video. As per the options, higher quality video will take up more data. Thus, the data usage remains in the hands of the viewers. For example, if someone wants to watch a medium quality video, they will be able to use ony 1 GB data in 2 hours. On opting the high quality video, the length of time will drop down to 1 hour keeping the data usage the same.
Some users have unlimited data and are willing to see the highest quality without choosing each time. For such users, Netflix has provided the option to keep the streaming quality at the highest level or any other level they choose. As a default, they have set a certain quality which they think will be appropriate for all types of users. According to them, in the default settings, neither will the video use up excess data, nor will the quality be too bad. Moreover, users can now use 3D touch to navigate through the new system.
