As per the automotive blog of the Wall Street Journal and Autoextremist, the talks between Alphabet the parent company of Google and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are on the last stages. This is in rewards to the partnership which involve car technology that allows self driving.

Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Fiat Chrysler has also indicated that he is even fine working with Apple, the tech giant apart from Alphabet so that the development costs and automotive related production offset help can also be provided. On the other hand, Matthias Mueller, the CEO of Volkswagen said that the discussions that are ongoing with potential partners do not involve Alphabet or Apple.

There are multiple reports that followed the negotiations which claim that Apple is actively developing and researching on electric vehicles, by 2019, it is believed that company plans to enter mass production. The so called team of Apple Car which is internally known as Project Titan includes employees who have worked previously for Texas Instruments, Tesla Motors, Land Rover, General Motors , Ford and other such companies. The manufacturing partnership was not reached by apple with BMW and Daimler.

So if Chrysler/Fiat were to help build the Apple car, it would not be right to assume that these cars would be just as bad as the Chrysler/Fiat’s cars. Even though Fiat may build the Apple Car, however the design of the car would be done by Apple. The specifications will also be dictated by the company and not to forget even the quality control would also be set. Fiat would only be responsible to turning the wrenches and provide the roof. Apple wants Mercedes or BMW to become the Foxconn for the Apple Cars. In a lot of cases, the specifics are given by Apple pertaining to the methods that have to be used while manufacturing since that would be needed for the kind of designs the company has in mind.
