The Federal Elections Commission recently published the Funding Data revealing the information about the largest donors for the election campaign of Bernie Sanders. As per the funding Data, a lot of the contributions were made by those who worked for various tech companies. The employees of Alphabet, the parent company of Google were in the lead of the donations that were received with a total donation amount that touched a little more than a 1/4 million dollars. The collective donations that were made by Apple employees were around $85K. The list also included employees from Intel, AT&T, Amazon and Microsoft.
As per the federal law, any Action Committee that is part of the political background has to declare the employer and occupation of those who donate more than $200. Although there is not obligation that the donors have to provide any answer, however in case they do go ahead and provide it, then the information has to be disclosed accordingly. The reason why this law has been put to place is so that they can go ahead and identify if any company is disguising themselves as individual donors. This concern clearly is not applicable in small totals that can be seen in the funding data.
Well this clearly also indicates that in comparison to Donald Trump, the preference is given to Bernie Sanders and it also shows which presidential candidate the Silicon Valley supports. The list not only included giant names from the Silicon Valley however the top 5 list also included the University of California.
On Tuesday, in New York, Bernie Sanders lost by a very big margin however managed to cover it up thanks to the contributions made by the Silicon Valley. In February, the report by the Federal Election Commission showed that almost $105,000 was raised by Sanders from those who were employed by the 5 largest tech companies.
