Audiobooks are loved by everyone, they offer a fantastic experience and the entire story can be relived in a brand new way. Apple is not a new player in the world of Audiobooks and they have sold a number of them. But the policy changed slightly and customers can now re‐download these books. The cloud ecosystem has its own set of advantages and if the books are kept in iCloud, there is no fear of losing expensive content. If the hard disk crashes, the content from iTunes store gets affected and this is not a viable option. Audible is the tool to use here and they do the re‐downloading effortlessly.
Apple’s latest support document clarified everything and in that it is mentioned, re‐download is possible. But the user has to go through a very complicated procedure. They will be not be visible in iTunes, users have to search them before downloading. The Purchased items list is there, but the paid content is not there anymore. On devices supporting iOS, a special app called iBooks is very helpful. But in the latest version iOS 9.3, there are three sections – Books, Updates and Audiobooks. The various categories of books are listed under Audiobooks and the books which are purchased recently are also shown.
This service was launched in as many as 22 countries, majority of Europe, United States, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are included. So the purchase history is getting more importance and the Audiobooks are located there. Major iTunes updates are coming this year and it will enhance the reading experience. Meanwhile, Audible is trying to get more subscribers and they are giving away a couple of books for free to non‐subscribers. The users can signup once this one month trial period ends. But automatic downloads will be the perfect option and iOS 9.3 will have that.
