Tim Cook’s open letter that was published declared that the company was going to oppose the order that was sent out but the federal Judge. The order was said to have instructed Apple to provide FBI with the necessary tools that could help them bypass the iPhone that was found in the scene of the San Bernardino shooting. The iPhone belonged to Syed Farook who was the shooter.
Ever since the refusal, there have been a lot of officials from the Government, media members, and even leaders of tech companies who have had their own say about things pertaining to the request made. While stand by the order, there are some who side the company’s refusal.
In a surprising comment made by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, stated that he seemed to be on the Apple’s side. In his tweet that was updated on 18th Feb 2016 on twitter, he talks about the backdoor request made by the FBI is indeed a risk. He further went on to say that this could compromise the privacy of the users.
He further went on to comment that he understand the fact that law enforcements are faced with challenge and supports the fact that data access should be provided o the bases of legal orders that a valid. However, it is very different that going ahead and passing orders at companies to come with ways to help hack the data and devices of customers. He further went on to say that this can be a precedent that can be really troubling.
The company that is behind Android as well as various other operating systems that are used by owners of smartphone’s, there is some weightage given to the opinion that is provided by Google in this front. All eyes have been waiting to know what Google had to stay and if they would back Apple of not.
