Tech giant Apple has admitted to a glitch in its numbers and statistics. It has admitted to the fact that it may have no idea whatsoever about the number of people using its Apple News application. The effect of the statement won’t have any major effects on the company because it has been publishing smaller than actual counts of the number of users using the application.
Apple’s VP Eddy Cue said in a statement related to the matter that, “We don’t know what the right number is. We’re in the process of fixing that, but our numbers are lower than reality.” He claimed that this scenario is better than being over optimistic, but the count has left some publishers in a state of concern. Like one publisher Atlantic Magazine’s CEO said that hisorganization needs precise figures but that hasn’t been the case.
The Apple CEO stated that around 40 million users had tried the app after its launch along with the iOS 9. But the publishers need to know as facts that how many users are using the app actively, but these stats are missing. The app has a lucrative deal that the publishers may add ads in the app and take 100% of the adgenerated revenue, or they may use the Apple iAd which will give them 70% revenue in exchange for help from Apple in placing ads.
Eddy Cue was surprised at the fact that publishers favor the iAd method to reduce their workload. The real stats may be needed by publishers , but one thing is for sure, a huge number of users are on the News app.
