The information was also confirmed through an email that showed the numbers of the latest subscriber list. In the recent times, the popularity of music streaming services has exploded. In order to catch up, the company has been putting in a lot of efforts. The first 6 months after the service was launched at a monthly price of $10, the number of subscribers that opted for the service was around 10 million. On the other hand, Spotify the rival service in the same genre took 6 years to achieve this number. Apple also went ahead and extended the music streaming service for the phones that had Google Android OS.

In October, the CEO of the company, Tom Cook stated that the number of subscribers that had opted for the service after its June launch had already touched 6.5 million people. In Australia this service was available for AU $12 while in UK it was £10 monthly.

The recent word that has been released by the company stated that towards the 4th quarter end, there number of active users had ended with a count of 81.5 million. This showed a drop in comparison to the statistics that was revealed a year back which showed a count of 81.5 million.
