It has been reported that an application has been given by Apple for a patent which is relation to an ECG device of an electrocardiograph device that is wearable. It is said that the device may be in the form of a brooch, ring watch or something on those grounds. It is also said that apart from the fact that it can be worn, the user can go ahead and wear it on the left or right ankle or wrist.
The reason behind the emphases of the application on the right or left side of the user’s body is due to the fact that the readings cannot be taken on both sides due to certain issues. As per the description given by Apple it is said that the automatic correction can taken place during the time the readings are inverted this is done with the help of placing the user’s finger on the electrode surface.
There is also a calibration phase that has been outline by the patent. Based on the readings that are achieved on the baseline, it can help in the interpretation of the tests that is taken subsequently. The reason this is done is to understand the readings that is derived from different locations of the user’s body like the left finger and the right leg or the right finger and the left leg.
The disclaimer that is applicable is the usual one where in it states that just because a patent is applied by Apple; it does not necessarily mean that they plan to have it in the form of a product. However, the one thing that is for sure that the company does have an interest that tilts to the health field. This was very obvious with the hint that had been made by Tim Cook last year pertaining to this front as the company does plan to come up with hardware’s that is related to the health.
