It is yet to be known if the iPhones future is long term or not, however the one thing that Apple does think about which is long-term is augmented and virtual reality. The investing patterns that have been seen recently of the company shows that when it comes to emerging technology , Tim Cook the CEO of the company is really interested in it. This was what had been stated in a recent report that Gene Munster an analyst with Piper Jaffray had to say.
It has been made very clear by Cook that when it comes to augmented reality, the interest labels that he has is very high and for a few concerns of the investor, this may help to ease it. This is because it is seen that there is a slow movement of the company towards the development of new technology.
During the earnings call recently, Cook stated that AR in the long run is a commercial opportunity that is great and has a lot of good things in store for the customers. Muster also went on to write that since presently there is no platform that is widely adopted when it comes to the experiences of augmented reality, the one sector which may play a role would be the smartphones sector.
Even Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of facebook and a big rival for apple when it came to virtual and augmented reality development suggested that smartphones and wearable’s will play a vital role when the new technologies are being developed. Muster even went on to say that the iPhone may be leveraged by Apple around the innovation of the augmented reality. It has been seen that there has been an expansion of the company pertaining to the research and development front with new projects being introduced. All the observations can be seen on the report that Piper Jaffray has released.
