Back in august,, the news that struck the headlines was the fact that Apple had managed to get the approval to build the data center in Ireland from the An board Pleanála. The permission gave Apple the liberty to go ahead and have support buildings and for the eventual data halls, out of 8 the permission was granted for one. If the company wanted to contract another hall, they would have to go ahead and submit a fresh request for the same. Now new reports have surfaced which speaks about a few challenges that the company is facing.
The reports that have been released by Galway Bay FM stated that when it comes to advising in regards to the data center that Apple has planned to have in Ireland, a planning inspector would be responsible for it. The recommendation of the planning inspector has already been submitted, however until the decision has been officially announced by the planning board, nobody can gain access to the report.
As per the statement that was released, Stephan Kay the planning inspector had already submitted the recommendation for consideration pertaining to the data center of Apple which is valued at 850 million Euros in front of a board Pleanála. Initially the permission had been submitted for a data center valued at $950 million, however due to environmental objections, there was an appeal lodged which resulted in the decision to be doubtful.
In May, Apple had addressed to five concerns that had been put across in regards to the project’s credentials. The stress that Apple had given on was pertaining to the environmental credentials. In their reply, they mentioned that the entire setup would be powered complete with the help of renewable energy. With the help of rainwater harvesting, they would meet the requirements for water. During the construction, the plants and trees would be taken out, however once it is completed; they will go ahead and restore them again.
