Apple understands which of their products requires development. It is totally correct that some developments are slow, but it depends on this giant. Apple doesn’t have powerful desktop solutions; Microsoft had already planned to end their story here. It is not merely about design, product philosophies are massively changing. The previous MacBooks were not ready for a massive design overhaul, they were built differently. The fabulous touchscreen experience is not limited not certain devices, the boundaries are expanding massively. If it fails miserably, the feature will be discontinued. This may not happen as Apple’s thought can’t go to waste. They tested it various times, before launching it to people.
The journey is much complicated now, Apple have started taking distinct steps. The world of touch will have new members; Apple’s development labs are storing these designs. Google always relied on search, this was their magical people; Apple has no other option that implementing touch in major devices. Steve’s era is officially over; Apple must come out of that shadow. It will only hurt their chance of dominating the futuristic world, if they don’t change ever year. There is actually no fixed pattern, almost anything can be done. Displays will slowly favour multi-touch; Apple will march on that path.
Macs were for designers, touch had no area to perform. The patent was made beforehand; Steve always cared about his ideas. As future customers compare other products, Apple’s experimental area will reduce. Touch has numerous applications, the ecosystem just have to be compatible. Typing in a touch interface is extremely hard; touch bar will not reduce any problem. Apart from a few shortcuts, touch bar basically does nothing. The game can be changed by software developers; they need to come up with mind-blowing ideas. Apps really have the capability to bring change, App Store knows that.
