A good company is not the one who enjoys immense profits and launches a product every day. Rather the company which looks out for its employees and their needs can be regarded as a company with good will and sense. Well, Apple ticks this category with its new diversity report.
This new report shows the result of Apple’s new step towards including minority people in the company and improving the equity of payment. This decision was taken in 2014 and has been implemented quite well in these years, which is proven by the report.
Hiring Employees
Since it is a big company, it requires many employees to finish up the work. And to satisfy this demand, Apple started giving chance to efficient women and also to people belonging to the underrepresented minorities. The people who are considered as minorities of the underrepresented groups by Apple are Native American, Black, Native Hawaiian, Hispanic and other people living in Pacific Islands.
According to diversity data compared, the numbers have steadily increased. For Women, in 2014 the new employment was 31% which increased to 35% in 2015 and presently (2016) is 37%. In 2014, the percentage of minorities was 21 which ascended to 24 in 2015. In 2016, the new hiring for these people is 27%.
Equality of payment
Another step taken by Apple which is highly appreciated is their decision for pay equity among all their employees. The women will get the same money as men for a similar quantity of work and so will be the case for minorities. There will be no discrimination among the wages of the minorities and the privileged white men.
This equity has already begun in US and they are analyzing if there is any lag in payments in other parts of the world. Apple also granted scholarships for Black students.
