Apple is building big plans for the special electric car project Titan. With the current hiring being done from Apple, it is pretty much clear that Apple wants to leave no stone unturned. This project is so called known to be the largest and the most costly project of the Apple till date.
Apple recently hired Bob Mansfield the former executive from Blackberry for their project. Bloomberg reports that few hiring has been done by Apple from Ford and Blackberry for their project. Dan Dodge the former employee from BlackBerry has been also hired by the Apple for their project. Dan Dodge also co-founded QNX, the operating system company acquired by Blackberry in the year 2010. It is one of the operating system being used in few of the vehicles today. Apple is also planning to make an autonomous driving system a priority for their project. Dan Dodge could be a lot helpful for the car project sharing their experience with the other fellow employees.
The company is also separately focusing on the autonomous driving system for their cars though the main project of the development of the Apple car is also running simultaneously. Apple has kept all options open. They may either acquire an established car making company for building their car rather than building all by themselves. Apple may also work all by themselves from the scratch for the complete design and production of the car. The decision is still pending. The car project team of the Apple is being run by some of the well-known veterans now like the software team of the car is headed by John Wright. The sensors being used in the car is being commanded by Benjamin Lyon and the hardware engineering department is being controlled by D.J. Novotney. The R&D leased office of Apple for the project Titan is situated in Kanata, Ontario.
