Mark Zuckerberg always loved studying human psychology; he analyzes emotions and discovers how people work. His company continuously builds products which help people communicate better. The problems are similar, the solutions don’t have variety. Business attention is something Slack wants, Facebook already has that. Slack’s main power is integration; it easily combines with other services.
Workplace’s parent ecosystem will never change, Mark won’t allow that. Slack wanted users, Facebook can brag about that. Meanwhile, some users already mix their personal work and professional work. Apple users have started downloading it; iOS will make the experience much better.
The firm mastered online advertising and social selling; it was time for creating a hardcore business product. In October, “Workplace” was released and it impressed tech buffs. The corporate world will readily accept it, the collaboration is very easy. The name was changed, it was too generic. Other apps like Slack are extremely tensed now; they simply can’t compete with Facebook’s traffic volume. Hipchat was silent about this, but they will make innovative changes in their product massively. Facebook doesn’t need to introduce their product, it is very familiar. The pricing is abnormally low; Slack can lose due to this. The demographic of business communication never had a big player, Workplace entered here to dominate.
Slack has been doing business for years, they were struggling. The blank spot was not filled, Facebook pounced here. They will bring more users to their main site, Workplace is just another excuse. Big changes were seen in the Facebook feed, groups were also professional.
The personal account will remain separate, this is for professional work. Workplace will not challenge LinkedIn now; they have established their market well. Zuckerberg wants $1 every month, Slack wants $6.67. The unlimited plan doesn’t give the full facilities, they have server issues. Some messages are stored, others are just deleted.
