There has been a huge shift in the PC market. The interest of the users has changed and shifted drastically. This is the 7th quarter where the PC market has observed a drop in their demand. Apple is one of the ultimate survivors. They have always been safe from the shift in demand curve of the users. There have been slight changes in the market share of the Apple across United States and whole world. The fresh reports released by the Gartner and IDC showcases that now even Apple is amongst the dark clouds. The slowdown in the PC market is also going to hit Apple globally as well as domestically.
The reports show that there has been a decrease of 4.5 percent globally in the shipments of the Apple computers. In the second quarter of the company nearly 62.5 million units were shipped however in the third quarter the shipments went down. On the brighter size, the analysts expected and forecasted a drop of 7.4 percent which Apple covered at 4.5 percent. Apple stands at 5th place in the ranking order of the shipments at 4.5 million, barely few units below ASUS at 4.4 million units competing at fourth.
Apple has observed a drastic fall in the market share. The shipment of the Apple went down from 8.3 percent year-over-year to 7.4 percent and at present it is 7.1 percent. Lenovo is at the top with 13.2 million worldwide shipments. The second position is affirmed by HP with 12.9 million units of the sales again very close to Lenovo. They may take over any time. It is expected that Apple should be bringing some good improvement to the Macintosh lineup of the PC’s in the early 2017. So far all the updates from the Apple for Macintosh were not worthy enough to push the sales.
