This year Apple could be making a major overhaul for the smart watches. Until last year, Apple smart watches were having OLED displays however this year Apple may be launching their smartwatches with the LED display screen. There are couples of benefits attached with the LED screen which are:
· They have better display comparatively which is sharper.
· It is expected to be improving the battery life of the device.
According to the report of the DigiTimes, Apple seems to be in a mood of experimenting with the display in their watch. Apple may be replacing their OLED display panels with the micro LED panels by the 2017 mid‐year. The reports also reveals about the laboratory of the Apple situated in Taiwan concentrated towards the research of micro LED. The lab was set up by the company in the year 2015.
The micro LED panels are very costly in production for Apple as compared with the OLED panels. Apple also acquired a company named LuxVue in the year 014 May known for making micro‐LED display or various devices. Apple was earlier replying majorly on the third part vendors for the production of the screen however after the acquisition now finally they can manufacture each and everything in‐house with the company. Some of the experts in the display segments suggest that micro‐LED technology could be the next big what thing after the OLED screen.
This is the future generation technology and Apple is making a brilliant move by including them in their devices. Right from the beginning people have been complaining about the low battery life of the Apple gadgets and this small could change in their device could bring a lot of efficiency from the users’ perspective. Apple at least estimates to be increasing the battery life by 20 percent with the small replacement in their smart watch.
