In the Chinese App Store of Apple, developers who wish to publish their games will not be facing a very tough time. The games will not be published with the Chinese government pre‐ approving it from July 1st onwards. It was noted by Tech in Asia, that SAPPRFT whose full form is the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television will need to pre approve any such title that is domestic or foreign.
The approval process may be handle b independent developers on their own, for those who need or want help in terms of entire procedure for the process approval may end up paying anywhere around $2000 ‐ $5000 to third party firms. For those whose games are already up to being sold, by Oct 1st the application must be submitted so that it gets the approval of SAPPRFT.
For the domestic developers, the rules permit a process which is simplified provided a formal application is submitted a minimum of 20 days prior. Another condition is the fact that titles of the games have to be casual with no or little story line and should not contain any sensitive elements socially or politically. If these terms and conditions are fulfilled, then even in a matter of 18 days, the approval can be given. For the approval of the games which do not come under the criteria, there is no timeline that has been defined. This includes even those that come under the foreign title category.
Considering the fact that these apps already go through and passed the official screening process of Apple, the arrival on the iOS App Store, will likely be delayed for many apps due to the rule that has been passed, however, in regards to the app reviews, the company has been working very hard to ensure that it happens fast.
