There have been many unanswered questions that have come into the picture after the official announcement made by Apple in regards to the change in the revenue split. Recently the decision that was taken was the 85% of the revenue that would be earned through subscriptions would be kept by the developers. However, this would be applicable only after the completion of the first year.
The examples that were given by Phil Schiller seemed to contradict the various descriptions that were given on the website of the company. Apple was approached by MacWorld to get some clarification on this front, and it seems to be that developers would be happy to hear some good news. The official statement stays that it has been confirmed by MacWorld after speaking with the company directly, that the expansive vision that Schiller’s has is one that is said to be accurate. An app can be submitted by any developer on a subscription basis for a task to be performed. It can also be very similar to a log in screen that you can find in Hulu or Netflix. The examples that were provided by Schiller included even enterprise apps which undergo continuous development for the effectiveness of the app. In fact, if you really look at things, presently also there are various apps under the enterprise category that is uses the subscription facility to sell, however the subscription fee couldn’t be charged directly with iOS.
Another point that was stressed on by Apple was that the muster would not be passed by every business model, unlike the streaming media and periodicals apps that are presently allowed to have the option of a subscription of not, the other category apps will have to make sense. A What’s New page has also been noted by Apple.
