Recently around 32 million Twitter credentials was leaked out in the form of a database, for those who want to know if they have been affected or not, it is very easy. LeakedSource who brought this information out in the open is trying to find out the user’s credentials that have been hacked. They also claim that they have managed to obtain one more huge leak this time that includes the users of Twitter that have been affected.
It was recently reported by LeakedSource that they managed to get the database of the login credentials of Twitter users from a particular user whose alias is said to be Tessa88@exploit.im. The freemium models is being used by LeakedSource so that a person can check for his or her own credentials for free, however in order to see the majority of credentials which have been leaked, the user would have to opt for the subscription based service. For around $2‐$4, around 24 passes are available. This is depending on the fact if it is paid by PayPal or Bitcoin. For those who are interested in the annual subscriptions, the fee starts from $200 onwards.
The collection that LeakedSource believes to have is said to be legitimate even though anybody can go ahead and make claims on the fact that they have such information. In one of the blog posts, the company went ahead and said that the credentials that they have with hem are said to be valid and real. 15 users were asked by them to verify their passwords and it seems to be that all 15 of them were successful in doing so. Presently there is no evidence as per LeakedSource that can suggest that the passwords were taken out directly from Twitter, however they do believe, that this could have been possible with the use of malware that was infected which managed to grab the password and username from the browsers.
