An investigation had been launched into AT&T by the U.S International Trade commission after San Jose’s Immersion complaint had come to lack in regards to the violation of carious products pertaining to the haptic feedback patents. ITC had officially announced that their aim is that within 45 days the investigation needs to be completed. On May 5th the complaint had been originally made by Immersion and had asked the issuances of the cease and desist orders by ITC along with a limited exclusion order.
No products were specified in the announcement which is the investigation’s target; however, the only reference that was given was laptops and smartphone’s that were with Apple. The devices that have been implied are the ones that are equipped with Force Touch and 3D Touch, this is specifically in the recent MacBook models and the iPhone 6s/6sPlus, the MacBook Air is not included.
Dating back to May 5th, there was a lawsuit that had been linked along with the investigation. A Delaware district court had launched it against AT&T and Apple. The claims made by Immersion were in regards to the fact that four haptic patents were being infringed via iPhone 6s and Mac Books. Earlier in the year, a similar ITC complaint and lawsuit had been filed which also included the in‐accusations against AppleWatch.
In 2015, the product lineups important of Apple had included a haptic feedback. Force touch and 3D Touch are nominally about controls which are pressure sensitive, with the help of complex vibrations and gestures; the haptic technology provides the necessary response.
