The latest photography app of Google has been following behind various other apps like Snapseed and Google Photos. This app can help in the stabilization of the live photos of iOS; this can be tuned into short movie clips and GIFs that can also be shared. Even still images can be created through the app; this is because there is a freeze feature that can be used on a live Photo’s background.
Short videos can be made which also features cinematic pans by sweeping. This is available only on iOS and thanks to Google Research; this Motion Stills app is available for us as a free download. Algorithms are used by the App so creating a virtual camera path. This can be used for the optimization if videos have to be recasted and bursted to make it look like stabilization equipment has been used while filming. The end result is that the person gets movies and GIF’s that look really nice which has cinematic pans featured as well as still backgrounds.
During the development of the app, a lot of work had been put in so that the app would not require a data center for processing as well as it can be used offline. The technology that has been used was on the basis of the previous work that they had done so that a lot of YouTube videos could be stabilized. Even GIFs could be created automatically using the bursts of pictures that are present in Google Photos.
The challenge that the company had was for technology to be taken so that in a data center it can be distributed. It was equally a challenge for them to shrink it down so that it can be used on mobile phones and with a faster performance. Various techniques were used so that a 40x speedup could be achieved.
