The 2016 Internet Trends Report of Mary Meeker is finally out and just like always, this is a really good tool which can be used for the analysis of the ongoing battle between iOS and Android. In the last quarter, Apple says a decline in their revenue for the first time. This was also taken into account by Meeker in the report that was released. In the report, there is an entire slide which shows the average selling point and market share difference.
As usual, the commanding lead when it comes to shipments and market share was Android, ASP was dominated by Apple. As per what is expected by Meeker, the shipments for the smartphone of Apple this year had declined by 11%. When it comes to Android smartphone’s shipments, there is an increase of 7% that is expected by Meeker. Along with that for the first time since 2013, the average selling price of Apple is expected to decline. It is believed that the fall will go down to $651 from $717.
This is a 9% decrease and is considered to be the largest decrease that seen by Apple in regards to their average selling price. One of the main reasons as to why the Apple’s average selling price has declined is because of the launch of the iPhone SE and the efforts that Apple has put in to come up with devices which are low in cost in various countries which also include India. The Wall Street is really world about Apple’s average selling price; in the meanwhile, the focus of the company right now is to ensure that as many users have the iOS devices in their hands. It seems to be that the battle between iOS and Android is very similar to that of the PC and MAC. The full report of Mary Meeker’s 2016 can be viewed online.
