It has been reported by the Economic Times that the heads of major Indian Mobile network carriers and Tim Cook would be meeting in order to discuss about the static partnership as the LTE rollout within the country accelerates. So far there have been slow data speeds that have constrained the smartphone market in major parts of the country. Cook has plans to meet with the largest Indian Carrier, Bharati Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm and other such companies, so that the LTE services can be rolled out nationwide in this year. Also in the list includes Vodafone and other companies.
In the most recent earrings, Cook stated that in India, the rollout of the LTE was the key to the growth of the company. He went on to say that the one thing which has held not just the company but other also back is the rollout of LTE in India which has begun recently in India. Very soon, some really good networks will be seen coming on in India which will not only unleash the capability but also the power of the iPhone in such a way that no other 3G or 2.5G network would do
It was shown recently by the Counterpoint Research that around 3% of the Indian market share belonged to Apple even though the total revenues that the company takes home are around 11%. During his visit to India, it is also believed that Tim Cook and Prime Minister Modi are expected to meet. There are also talks about the fact that the company plans to open three retail stores in the country. In Bengaluru, it was also announced by Apple about an iOS AppDesign and Development. Considering the tight schedule Tim Cook has when he comes to India, he would not have much time to sightsee however a cultural visit was managed by him.
