Recently James Pinkstone had uploaded a complaint about the problems he was facing in regards to the iTunes Match bug that had deleted 122 GB of his music collection. It was confirmed by Apple, that there was a potential fix with the release of the iTunes 12.4. A new blog post was uploaded by Pinkstone which provided details about how the company went through extreme lengths so that they could track down the reason why the problem was caused.
He also stated that two engineers named Ezra and Tom were sent by Apple to his house so that they could attempt to recreate and even investigate the issue. The two engineers of the company spent most of their Saturday working with various other engineers through conference calls and Pinkstone so that they could go ahead and recreate the problem.
The engineers of the company also went ahead and hooked an external hard drive to the laptop that Pinkstone owned and even ran a specialized iTunes version so that they could recreate how the mass music deletion problem count happen. They also ran various tests and throughout the process were in constant touch with Cupertino.
The same night, Tom came back to collect the data of the Apple and iTunes usage with the hope that he could find some kind of correlation between the deletion of music as well as his habits, however there was nothing found.
They spend hours trying to troubleshoot what the problems was however the files just remained. It was just not a cut and dry kind of problem and this is also one of the reasons why it was difficult to replicate. It still remains unclear as to if the iTunes 12.4 update would be effective enough to sort the issue however the one thing what you can be sure of is the fact that the company is dedicated to resolve the matter to make sure it does not happen again.
