According to the planning documents unearthed from the city by The Oklahoman, it has been discovered that Apple had planned to spend a little over $ 2.5 million for the renovation of the Apple store located at Penn Square in Oklahoma. According to the reports, the store was closed back on the 18th of April for construction. Till the completion of the construction the company will be taking care of its retail needs from a different temporary location.
Though the details of the plans are still a mystery to outsiders, the money sanctioned for the project, shows that the company is looking to make some massive changes at Penn Square. As for the plans which are known, the company is looking to install a massive 37 foot giant screen as a centrepiece for its new Apple Store. This gigantic screen alone has a budget of approximately $ 1.5 million. As per earlier reports, the giant screen was first introduced in the Apple Store of Memphis in Tennessee in the month of March, when the place got a makeover.
Other than the giant screen, the Chief of retail, Angela Ahrendts and the Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive has planned a spacious open area located at Penn Square. The amenities will include not only an illuminated ceiling, but also sets of new wooden tables, special display cabinets for accessories and many more such high end changes. According to the reports the Apple Store at Penn Square was the very first permanent retail Apple store of the city, with a satellite location built later in Tulsa. Though the work load is massive for the builders, the company presumes that it will be over before the holiday season starts. Thus, this holiday season, the people of Oklahoma will be treated to a new and improved Apple Store outlet.
