For Canadian users who there was limited access to Apple Pay as they had just an option. This was using an American Express card that was a card which was not issued by a bank. Things have finally changed as now out of the five big Canadian banks, two have joined the list while the remaining three would come on board in a few months time. As per the report by Financial Post, it stated that from Tuesday onwards the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Royal Bank of Canada are now supporting the payment technology.
The customers of these two banks can now use the Apple Pay service that allows them to load their card information on their Apple Watches and iPhones and can also use their device to make payments. The Canadian Tire Financial Service and ATB Financial are also going to be going live. A conformation was given by Jennifer Bailey, the VP of Apple Pay stating that the list of supporting banks for the Apple Pay service will include all the top 5 Canadian Banks. She also stated that the company was thrilled to see that the Apple Pay service is going to be introduced very soon to the users in Canada and the Five Big Banks are providing the necessary support.
Both RBC and CIBC support all major credit and debit cards while ATB and CTF provide support for credit cards only. ATB has promised that later on they will also start supporting debit cards. The new facility that ATB has started providing is also being promoted online through a video. It has also been seen that the reason why the Apple Pay service has been delayed by banks is so that their wallet service can be sold to the customers. This has always been one of the challenges that the Apple Pa service has had to face very regularly.
