Here is a problem which every user face, redundant media files on their computer hard drive. Over the years, users accumulate a lot of memorable images of events on their Mac and keep it stored in various locations. After a certain time, if one goes through all the images, they will most definitely find a lot of images which have duplicates on their machine. Clearance of these duplicate images is quite a tedious job, where the users have to remember each picture they have seen and select it for deletion is they appear again. For a couple of 100 images, this is fine, but what if the user has more than 10,000 images?
For this exact problem, Apple has an app called Gemini, created by MacPaw. Moreover, MacPaw has recently released the latest version of the Gemini, Gemini 2. According to users, this is one of the best software to use on one’s Mac to clear out duplicate images. On scanning the software can pinpoint all the duplicate images on the Mac and shows it to the user for deletion. This app not only lessens search time for the users, but also helps to keep the space in their hard drives free. The Gemini 2 is so advanced that it searches not only for duplicate files, but also some of the similar files, which are not exactly duplicates.
User test results for the Gemini 2 has come out perfectly well, with the user’s highly satisfied with the newer version. The best feature they have stated in the similar file recognition system. As said by them, when users click a number of images on a single day, most images are not 100% duplicate, but are similar. Gemini 2 can detect them too, even if the differences are negligible.
