Last November Apple introduced a new connectivity device for the iPad Pro. This device was known to be the smart connector device. It is a three pin device which can easily connect other peripherals like mouse and keyboard with iPad too. A similar device to what smart connect is Logitech’s base dock popularly known as Logi base dock. In March Apple launched their lightning accessories which includes new USB camera adapter for connecting other devices like microphone supporting USB 3.0. Now the user can easily get its iPad pro charged with smart connector and have the accessories connected and charged via lightning port.

The only issue with the smart connector is that not all the companies are taking advantage of the smart connector. Till date only Logitech seems to be one of the companies which is working upon parallel lines rest all of them are asymmetric. Smart connectors was first launched by Apple which was later copied by Logitech therefore technically Apple is said to be taking a small commission from each sales of their device. It is being rumored that iPhone 7 pro is also said to be using the technology of the smart connectors.

Smart connector is the technology of the Apple and a patent has also been filed by the company. Therefore any company working upon similar guidelines will have to be a part of the MFI program launched by Apple. It is said that smart connectors is more seamless than all the Bluetooth devices and one day they will be replacing everything. This is a call to all the accessory makers to come forward and work with Apple for developing standard devices helpful towards all. Apple is appealing to all the accessory manufacturing companies to work together and create the next generation of the peripherals for the users.
