In the developer blog of Apple, It was officially announced by the company, that all the apps which are being submitted on the App Store would be required to support only networks under the IPv6 from June 1st, 2016. The transition was introduced a year back by Apple during the WWDS conference that took place in 2015 and there were also implementations made that very soon this would become a mandate for all developers to follow with their upcoming as well as present apps.
The code for a few subsets of Apps would have to be updated so that it can support the IPv6 only network. The relevant guidelines were already posted by the company on the website that is dedicated to developer documentation. Most of the apps that have been developed would not be affected as the use or need of a custom networking stack is not required as they rely on the networking API’s of the system.
All the necessary procedures have already been followed by the company to ensure that the system frameworks are updated accordingly for supporting the IPv6‐ only networks. The iPv6 is a network standard that will soon be in place since the available resources are slowly running out. This is why the iPv6 will supersede the iPv4 and will replace it completely. Apple also needs to ensure that the platforms of the company are all set for the new technology as well as the shift of the ecosystem.
Apart from the above mentioned, June 1st is also the date that has been given for the addition of the new developer requirement. As per the cut off, the Watch KIT APIs for the native watch OS 2 gas to be used by all the apps of the Apple Watch from the 1st of June, 2016.
