Apple has quickly moved to maintain and service their equipment installed in San Jose, California (United States). Apple has their own chip fab plant which is nearly 70,000 square feet in size for manufacturing low volume Maxim Integrated Products for supporting the technology development process. The plant is known by the name Athena. Apple is putting up their efforts post takeover of the plant efforts to retrofit the formerly installed equipment. Semi‐trailer trucks have been called to load the anti‐static foil wrapped equipment safely. This equipment has been marked as delicate instruments while the time of loading on trucks.
Apple has also clarified that Athena will never ever take over the extremely sophisticated role towards building Apple’s advanced A series processors, Apple TV’s , iPhones, iPads and iPods, etc. There is no rationale potential in shifting the high end chip production towards Athena after looking at its area. The space at Athena also cannot be converted into a commercial office because it is meant for accommodating the production of the electronic Apple devices such as iPhone, Ipad, iPod, etc. Apple altogether has acquired high volume of land for putting up offices and other facilities like research centers, production house, testing facilities, etc. Majority fo the land acquired by Apple is undeveloped and it will be the part of their future projects. Apple is keeping these lands for setting up their future projects whenever they will do it. Until last year Maxim who were the original owners of the land acquired by Apple were producing micro electromechanical system sensors. The company had to bid adieu after losing their important contract with Samsung for supplying components under their flagship.
Apple’s components are made by a number of manufacturers. These components need advanced process nodes which were well acquired by maxim site Athena.
