In a recent judgment given by the US court now police and other law authorities will have more power to nail the crime and the criminals. After the recent case in San Bernardino where Apple completely refused to help FBI, a lot of things are said to have changed in United States.
According to the new rule by the supreme court of United States now the law authorities can easily take the electronic devices in custody for the purpose of investigation. The copy of the new rule has been sent to Congress waiting for their amendments by Dec 1st. If no alterations or changes are done until this date then the whole rule will be applicable without any changes. Chief Justice John Roberts has handed over the copy of the law proposal and is now waiting to hear back from them.
Justice department is broadly looking at the ways to compel companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft to help them with their legal demands for cases where electronic devices may play a major role in finding clues. Disapproval of the tech companies in the case makes it tougher for them to get the whole set of data and hence makes it over difficult to even sustain in the case.
San Bernardino case was the biggest example of lesson for FBI. Even after repeated number of requests for device unlock by Apple, they plainly refused to help and hence outside sources had to be hired for getting help in the case. Though FBI backed out with their case against Apple however a debate sparked in United States against all the tech companies and their role in such cases. If the bill is passed then servers of Google, Apple and Microsoft could be an easy and soft target for law enforcement agencies. Direct search power will also lessen down the major issues in most of the cases.
