Following on from ResearchKit and HealthKit, the third framework has been launched by Apple called CareKit. The announcement was made last month for the first time. The CareKit is an app that allows the collection of medical data from users so that the information could be shared not only with physicians and various other carers so that the accurate log can be provide of the various signs and symptoms for better assistance with the treatment and the diagnosis.
In the official statement released by Apple, they stated the more the person knows about their health, the better they can take after themselves. In order to manage one’s health it is necessary that an active role need to be played and with the use of the right tools, CareKit is a software framework which is an open source, this enables developers in building various apps that can help in the management of the medical conditions of the user. Instead of relying on the only on the visits to the doctor, a person can keep a track of the medications and symptoms regularly and even share the information to the concerned people.
There are 4 CareKits that have been developed. They are Glow Nurture‐ This is a tracker than can be used for pregnant women. This app is a free download, however for the full functionality; there is a subscription fee that has to be paid. This app can help with the log progress of the pregnancy.
Glow Baby‐ This is an app that can be used the day your baby is born, this takes over from the Glow Nurture app and can help keep a track from the growth charges to even the schedules. One Drop‐ This is an app that has been designed to help diabetic patients. This app helps to keep a track of the glucose levels, meds, activity food and other such information that can help in ht management of diabetes.
Start‐ For those who are looking for an app for depression management, this is something that can help you out. It is a free download and can help you keep a track of the progress you are making and other such details that can help you out.
