We all know that there have been a lot of plans that Apple has been making pertaining to the expansion of their Apple Stores not just across the country but also internationally. The recent expansion plans now has Apple planning to sign a real estate lease on the O’Connell Street of Dublin. This would result in the establishment of the first Apple Store that would be in Ireland.
This information was indicated on Friday through a report. A consortium called Natrium was bought by the former department store Cierys for around $32.6 million or €29 million. Word has it that the idea is now been pitched in to Apple and it is even believed that for several months, there have been some ongoing negotiations. The Irish Times was told by Apple that there is no announcement made pertaining to a store opening on that particular site. However, the company is a little secretive about the plans until the construction of their store is already in progress.
It was also believed that in June, the Cierys closure was extremely controversial. The first reason is the fact that the store is Dublin’s iconic fixture. Around 460 employees went out of work, some of them worked for the company for around 40 years. For the terminations that were handled, it gave birth to various protests.
In Northern Ireland’s Belfast, there is a store of Apple however there in the independent nation there is nothing even though it is the company’s business focal point. The European operations of the company are handled by facilities that are located in and around Cork. This also includes international revenues, manufacturing iMacs etc., this exploits Irish loopholes in paying taxes to the minimum amount which is presently been investigated by the European Commission investigation. The approval is still awaited for the plans for a data enter.
