As per Mark Moskowitz, an analyst with Barclays, he claims that the next year release of the iPhone “S” will be dropped and will jump directly to iPhone 8. The previous suggestion was backed up by Moskowitz that the 2017 launch of the iPhone would be the biggest upgrade since the iPhone 6 and 6+ of 2014. With features like wireless charging and OLED displays, a physical home button will be the one thing that it would lack. He has termed the upgrade as a mega cycle due to the way the company’s planning to revamp things. He is not so optimistic about the iPhone 7 that will be released this year.
Mark stated that the iPhone 7 will be an iPhone that is more like a replacement cycle, instead of a reinvention that is full blown; it would be an incremental S release. It is also believed that the headphone jack would be eliminated and would be replaced by smart Earpods which are wireless. This is said to be one of the improvements that the company plans to make, apart from that there will be nothing much apart from the usual component upgrade and tweaks.
On this basis, Mark thinks that the overall sales of iPhones for this year in comparison to 2015 would be around 1.8% fewer. This was contrasting the suggestion that he had made about the fact that the sales percentage for 2016 would be up by 2.6%.
The move is considered to be definitely interesting just in case they do go ahead and decide to opt with the iPhone releases that have been doing back to back with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 at a time when the sales of the iPhone seem to be slowing down. To clear the air, the overall sales of iPhones is said t be 1.8% fewer, would still mean that there would be still a huge number of iPhones that would be in the market.
